The New Hazlett Theater
The New Hazlett Theater will be our host once again for our conference sessions on Friday June 12th. The Hazlett Theater was built in 1889 as the first Carnegie Music Hall and was dedicated by President Benjamin Harrison. Designed in a Richardson Romanesque style, the Theater is part of an impressive historic landmark that also housed one of the first Carnegie Free Libraries in the country.
Today the nonprofit theater is a thriving and active community asset that presents a variety of performance art disciplines to the Pittsburgh community.

Our pre-conference workshops will be held in two different but equally unique venues throughout Pittsburgh. One at Left Field Meeting Space on the North Side and one at The Beauty Shoppe in East Liberty. You’ll get to experience more than one part of Pittsburgh while you’re here!

Hotels
There is a lot going on in Pittsburgh the same week as Web Design Day, so plan to book your hotel rooms as early as possible. The Three Rivers Arts festival is happening a few blocks from the conference and a Phillies-Pirates series starts on Friday night.

The Springhill Suites, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore and The Priory are also on the North Shore. All three of these hotels are about a 15 minute walk from the main venue.
Most downtown hotels are also within a 30 minute walk from the venue. Hotel shuttles, buses, and cabs are also easy options from downtown. Our favourite downtown hotels include: The Hotel Monaco, Omni William Penn and Fairmont Pittsburgh.
If airbnb is more your style there are a number of full apartments and private rooms listed there. Look for places listed as Downtown or North Shore/North Side if you plan to walk to the venue. If you’re bringing a car check out Lower Lawrenceville too. It’s our favourite neighbourhood in town.
